The first race, Bristow Trail Run, will take place on Saturday, February 8, at Elijah Bristow State Park in Dexter. For this event, you may choose from a 50k, 25k, 10 miler or 5 miler. I’ll be participating this year in the five miler, and super excited to get in the mud!
I love when trail season officially kicks off, and especially the Run Big Trail Series. This series is acompilation of 6 races that take place in Pleasant Hill, Marcola, Eugene, and Oakridge. The races are spaced out so you can comfortably compete in all six of them, as well as race in other events that interest you.
The Run Big Trail Series is for all fitness levels, and lovers of all distances from long to short. Long course and short course results will be tracked over the entire series.
All race distances for the Bristow Trail Run start at Elijah Bristow State Park in the main parking area. If you participate in the 50k race, your start time will be 9 am. All other distances will start at 10 a.m. The course is a 5.2 mile loop. Depending on the distance you choose, you will continue to run the loop until you reach your distance (for example, 6 times for the 50k and once for the 5 miler). If you are familiar with trail racing, you know that race distances are measured in an organic fashion, meaning the distance you cover may be slightly more or less than the race distance you sign up for.
Two aid stations will be available to racers on the 5.2 mile loop, which you will pass twice, totaling four stations on the loop. You will find water, Gatorade, GU energy gels and GU Brew tablets, light snacks and basic first aid. If you need additional aid, please pack it in accordingly.
Awards for overall and age group finishers are available for the Bristow Trail Run. Awards will be presented to the first place male and female finisher in each distance, as well as the top three in each age group. Registration is open, so get registered soon! Same day registration on the February 8 is also available for an additional $10. I’ll see you at the races!
