After all the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over, a lot of us vow to exercise more and eat better. A lot of us racers sit down with our race calendar trying to determine which events we want to train, and register for. And, as much as we hate to admit it, some of us didn't get in many miles during the winter months. Here is the chance to get yourself to the starting line, and see where you stand.
Whether you are a runner or walker, the Winter Predictor is all about you. In this race, you predict your finish time! That's right! You can take a wild guess at where you think you are fitness and pace wise, then make a prediction. Just note, you are not allowed to wear your GPS or any sort of timing device you normally would during a race. Then, awards will be based on the 25 who are closest to predicting their actual finish time, the top overall male and female, and first place age group finishers.
Race distances are your choice of a 20k (12.4 miles), 13k (8.06 miles), or a 6k (3.72 miles). Course time limit is 2.5 hours, so choose your distance appropriately. The race will begin at Skinner Butte Park in Eugene. Look for the lovely little house called Lamb Cottage, as that is where the start/finish and packet pick-up will be. All distances will be run on the Alton Baker Park paved paths, which traverse along the Willamette River. Being shielded from vehicular traffic, it really is a beautiful and safe place to run.
Post race food, including Track Town Pizza (yum), will be provided at the finish line. Registration is taking place now, or onsite at Lamb Cottage on race day.
